Many people have found themselves getting into the habit of drinking more than they would like.
It is very easy to programme ourselves into a compulsive action.
You arrive have home stressed, remember you have an open bottle of wine in the fridge and pour yourself a glass. You get changed and settle on the couch with the glass and feel more relaxed.
This has now set up an association that the glass of wine relaxed you so it becomes every night or more nights than you would like. The one glass turns into a bottle or more.
Very few people I have helped would class themselves as alcoholics, but they do recognise they have a compulsion to drink when they would rather not. It can escalate even further for some.
The effects of alcohol abuse are many.
Stress becomes worse as you berate yourself for doing it, so you drink to relieve the stress.
Your health can become compromised quite quickly.
Relationships and work may begin to suffer.
Alcohol abuse is a habit and can be treated with hypnotherapy in the same way as other habits as they are built in the subconscious mind and of course as you’ve probably discovered, a desire or need to change isn’t always enough to break the cycle of a bad habit.
Clinical hypnotherapy helps to influence the subconscious mind to change these habits or behaviour into far more beneficial and self-affirming behaviours. It gives your mind a chance to experience some positive emotional intensity, as if you have achieved the changes which further helps your subconscious mind accept these new behaviours.
